1, 2, .....3 children?

Well, we are here!! After a trying and exhausting journey, we are finally here. All of our bags made it, except for Jerry's. All of his clothes and our toiletries were in there. Needless, to say we are roughing it "a la natural".(Especially Jerry :)) We did not get to our apartment until late Monday afternoon because we were sitting in the airport waiting on his bag to fly in from Paris (Who knows where Paris came from!!) We ate at TGI Fridays and had to go shopping for a set of clothes for Jerry to go to our referral appointment today. Obvously, they do not make many clothes for big men in Ukraine. Everyone here is skinny! The two men that have been helping us here have been wonderful!!!! We would not have made it without them.
Now, Without further adieu.....
We had our referral appointment today. Surprisingly, we were very calm. I think it is because we really believe that things are going to work out. That is a great thing!!! When adopting siblings, it is very hard to for all of them to be young. There was one referral that really stood out- 3 boys. They were all very cute and had beautiful eyes. We have been told that their town is very beautiful. They have not been in the orphanage very long. We should be receiving our paperwork tomorrow and travel to their region tomorrow night by train. (We are praying that Jerry's luggage gets here before then!!)
This is the first good day that we have had since we left on Saturday and what a good day it has been. We are very excited to meet the boys in the next several days. The adoption process does not start until after we meet the children and are committed that this is a good fit. We are not overwhelmed but really more excited. The children are really beautiful and were described as very good and sweet boys!! Even the lady handling our case was joking about Jerry coming home with a football team. Please pray that we make a connection with the boys and that they are healthy and happy when we meet them.
God's work is very evident. The sun even came out for the first time as walked out of the building. We will try to post some pictures in the morning. We have not had ANY time for sightseeing. Things have been happening very quickly because of our late arrival. I want to thank you for the comments all of you have made on the blog. As I read them, tears came to my eyes because of how much you each mean to us and feel like you are going through this with us. Please continue to pray for us. This is the most amazing thing that I have ever been through!

Amanda

I can hear all of my coaching friends, especially Coach North, saying,"have you lost your mind?" This has been the most unbelieveable day that I have been through in quite a while. The boys on the referral are very handsome boys. I read Amanda's from above and she was relativively calm. Coach Love, can you believe that? Amanda has given you all of the details and I just wanted you to know that God is real. Most of you know that I surely do not deserve this kind of blessing. HE does bless us in HIS time, not ours. We miss you all.
Jerry
Announcement: 1. All donations for the third child should be made to .... Just Kidding.
Brooks, How is GATA week going? I know my guys are showing their toughness. Pledger, I can relate to your excitement when you found out that you and Maryann were going to have Ayden. Thanks for blogging. Reading the responses is very fun for us. Later!

Well,it's 5:00 your time now. Remember, let God guide you. I know both of your hearts reach out to these boys; pray and make sure He wants this. As far as numbers, you both have enough love for more than that. I love you, praying continually.
Tell Amanda there is such a thing as TMI. There is a picture in my head that I didn't need because of her.

Be careful, after putting up a basketball goal years ago, Suzanne and I challenged our girls..."the day they could beat us (2 on 2), we'd give them each $100." So far so good! Three Hood's could be tough to take on the court!
We love you guys and are praying often!

"Children are a gift from the Lord....like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of ones youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them"

How big is your quiver? :)

God already knows the number in your family.

I can't believe what I am reading. I have been praying each day for God to direct your paths and work things out. It sure looks like He has. Of course, we knew He would. He is truly an awesome God. And, yes Jerry, you do deserve this. You both deserve the very best and I believe it's coming to you. Can't wait to hear more. I will be praying.

Love, Shirley

You know, I knew you'd be getting a crew! Spain Park can look forward to some awesome athletes in the future! :-)

God is blessing this trip, even though things haven't been running smoothly. I think that this is preparing you for what it's like to be parents - flexibility is the key. You can plan and plan, but in the end, there are always curveballs you have to deal with. It sounds as though you are dealing with the curves well so far!

Looking forward to reading more as the days go by.

Coach Hood,
This week is going good. I think Coach Burrough is enjoying it too much! The puke count is up to around 10 which is great considering how hard they are working. Stubbings, McKelvey, Allers, Z May are standouts on the "O", and Caleb, Holloway, Moseley, and some others are doing great on the "D". This is a great thing for us and I think it is going to pay off in Spring and the Fall.
Anyway, just know that we are praying for you guys and everything is being taken care of here.

Hello from Selma!
Our first post to ya'll... so we need to make it good!
Jerry, John wants you to know he's contacted the AHSAA to inform them of your "illegal recruiting trip". You should expect to hear from them shortly :)
Amanda, three boys...let me tell you from experience, the toilet seat in all your bathrooms will never be returned to the "down" position again. Just get used to it.
Seriously, we couldn't be more thrilled for you both! All the best, hope everything goes well, and we love you both!
Oh, by the way...our other greatnieces and greatnephew refer to us as Granite (great-aunt-janet) and Gruncle (great-uncle). So, from now on, we expect yours to do the same!
We love you!

Three boys, WOW!! As the more mature parents of 2 boys, let us say that life is great! There is nothing like having 2 totally different boys. It teaches you patience, kindness, love, joy, some humiliation etc! Glad ya'll are there and that Jerry has Russian clothes. Best wishes as you meet and start your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers!

Three boys? What a future the Eagles have in store! The two of you have more compassion and courage than I could ever pray for! I love reading your blog. It's certainly better than any novel I could've bought! I'm cracking up over Big Jerry without his clothes! Doesn't God have a sense of humor?
We are all praying for you here. Jerry, my golfers are 2-0! My ninth grader shot a 43 against Vestavia last night. You should've seen their faces!
Love you both.

Hey Coach,

Hope you and Mrs. Hood are having a good time. We're wishing you the best of luck. As a quick note, we learned a lot about ourselves mentally and physically this week as a team. This past week, so-called GATA week, I think was a success. We're almost there.

Look forward to hearing from you. My email address is omoline70@yahoo.com if you feel like talking.

Good luck again,

In His name,

George
