The Dollar is Back!

Never have we been so aware of the value of the dollar. When we arrived, we could transfer $1 for 5 grevna (Ukrainian money-spelled in English with a southern twist). Because of the US economy, the value of the dollar had dropped to $4.70 over the past several days. Today, it made a comeback!! We transferred some money at $4.90. We were getting a little worried there for a while. It really makes a big difference when you are pinching pennies!

We joined our Montgomery friends today for a visit to the Ukrainian Patriotic War museum. We got some great pictures and we will get those posted by tomorrow! They had some really incredible statues, along with the huge Motherland Statue that is the quasi-equivalent to our Statue of Liberty. It was a good day but extremely cold. We had a pretty good smow late yesterday and last night.

We are still waiting for news in an appointment. We are trying very hard to patient but certainly hope that things begin moving very soon!

Love,
Amanda

Good to hear from ya'll. You can't imagine how many people are reading your blog; most don't respond but I can't tell you how everyone looks forward to your updates.I checked the Kiev weather for Saturday and the high is supposed to be 57 degrees maybe you can thaw out alittle. Didn't have to go get the boxes for Lee and Kea (the movers were providing them). Wish me luck tomorrow working at mass throw away at Mallard Creek. I promise I will get to my closet before you come home but really it will not be the same without you there to tell me what to get rid of. I guess I will use the Hood Rule-If I haven't wore it in two years-out it goes!!! I know ya'll are anxious but good things come to those who wait. Take care of each other and try to stay warm. Let's us know if you need some extra money; your Dad can always sell blood. Ha Ha
Love to you both,
Honey

Sis,
I can't find the Monkey pictures. I might have left them at your house when we unloaded my car the night before you left. My luck !! I find two cute Monkey pictures that would go with their of my grandchildren's room and I lose them. I can't wait for you to get home and give me some stability; I seemed to be alittle frazzled lately. ( I think Dad is Turkey Hunting too much) Just thought I would give you an update onthe monkey pictures.
Love,
HOney

It's always great to hear from you. I'm glad to know you are enjoying some of your time. Am praying for an appointment soon and hope that everything will go speedy from there.
The Dollar isn't worth very much here of late either. I doubt that $5.00 would even be worth 4.90. ha
Stay positive and I will be praying for you. You are on my mind almost every minute of the day. I Love you both.

I meant to call earlier today, but before I knew it, it was too late to call. As I pass by OMHS every day to work and coming home, I say a prayer for you both. I am glad you have some company, I also know waiting is inot easier. Praying for you and I hope to call tomorrow.

Hi boys and girls!

I didn't get to post this weekend, so HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

It sounds like you may be able to pick up a little extra money as tour guides once you learn the city a little more.

We are all praying for you and think of you both all the time.

So far I haven't been able to get my schedule to sync with yours to get to talk to you. Maybe soon.

Take care and we love you both.

Hey Amanda,
I have been enjoying your posts and wanted to say hello. Everything is going fine here. The art department did great at the district level art show at Montevallo. There are seven categories...Draw,Paint,mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, photography and digital art. We got first place in 4 Dr,P,MM and S. We also got honorable mention in the other three categories. I was disappointed that a photo or digital piece did not win, especially since I did not much like the ones that did win. Oh well. It is getting to be spring here in a big way, I hope it will come there for you soon. We miss you but are proud of you and thinking of you.
